“East End experience”
In the late autumn I had the opportunity to travel for a few days with my family. Considering that winter is approaching, I decided that I wanted to take this opportunity to visit one more time this year one of our favorite places – Nessebar.
Cape Emine
Knowing that we will be in southeastern Bulgaria for a few days, I picked the places I wanted to visit. Our first stop, and perhaps my favorite of this short tour, was Cape Emine. Except that this is the most Eastern point of Bulgaria, Cape Emine provides a spectacular view! The very view of the sea and the surrounding cliffs around the cape, accompanied by the smell of seawater create beautiful moments. Also, the cape is known as the conditional border between the Northern and Southern Black Sea coast of Bulgaria. Additionally, that’s the end of the longest marked hiking track in our country, “Kom – Emine” which has a length of 600 km and can be covered in 20-25 days. Unfortunately, much of the cape is restricted due to the military area around the lighthouse itself. But the place has a side path that provides a closer view to the lighthouse and the surrounding area around the cape.
Useful information:
Cape Emine is located 2 km from the village Emona. It can be reach by travelling on the highway Burgas – Sofia and turning on the crossroad to Irakli.
The road from Irakli to Emona is in very bad condition and it is not advisable to go by standard car.
In the nearby resorts they offer safari tours with jeeps that can drive you to Cape Emine.
Emine cape is located 78 km south of Varna and 69 km north of Burgas.
Irakli beach
After climbing the rocky paths to Cape Emine, we went down to one of the most beautiful Bulgarian beaches, Irakli. The beach itself is a modest 3 km sandy beach, which in turn creates with ease a unique landscape with beautiful shades of blue waves and the nearby mountains. The area is relatively remote from the large resorts and is visited mainly by young people who ignore the lack of comfort in exchange of interaction with wildlife. Also, the beach itself was declared a protected area in order to preserve coastal habitats of rare and endangered plant and bird species.
Useful information:
Irakli is located 7 km north of Emona village, 9 km from the town of Obzor and 30 km from Nessebar;
One of the traditional events in the region is celebrating “July Morning”, which is expressed in geeting the sunset on the 1st July on the beach;
If you are looking for a peaceful, quiet and lovely place for sunbathing this is the place. Visit once and you will not regret for a moment;
Here you can enjoy unspoiled nature (one of the few places on the Black Sea coast);
